Sympathize With Gaza!
Palestinians in Gaza, living under constant siege and sanctions, staged the world's largest and most dramatic prison break in January. The Campus Antiwar Network endorses Israeli Apartheid Week actions around the world to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians.
As Dave Zirin reports this week, Egyptian soccer star Mohamed Aboutreika "lifted his jersey to reveal a T-shirt that read "Sympathize With Gaza." For this he "received a yellow card for breaking world soccer’s ruling body FIFA’s
year-old rule against political sloganeering on the pitch, and a
suspension may be in the works. But then the unexpected: The
confederation was flooded with emails from fans and even reporters
expressing their support for Aboutreika’s actions."
Images of the event have apparently been barred by Google from their image search under pressure from Israel. Only Arabic-language media, like al Arabiya, have reported Google's actions.
Get your campusantiwar.net designed replica of Aboutreika's shirt and gear here. A percentage of every sale goes to building the student antiwar movement.
